Meyerhoff Scholars Program
Open for Fall 2025 Incoming Freshmen ONLY
The Meyerhoff Scholars Program has been at the forefront of efforts to increase diversity among future leaders in science, engineering, and related fields. The UMBC Meyerhoff family is now more than 1600 strong with over 1400 alumni across the nation, which includes over 300 students enrolled in graduate and professional programs.
The Program is open to prospective undergraduate students of all backgrounds who plan to pursue doctoral study (Ph.D. or MD-PhD) in the sciences or engineering and who are interested in the advancement of minorities in those fields. The program’s success is built on the premise that, among like-minded students who work closely together, positive energy is contagious. By assembling such a high concentration of high-achieving students in a tightly knit learning community, students continually inspire one another to do more and better. To begin our application process, students should first complete and submit the UMBC CommonApp. Five to seven business days after submission of the CommonApp, applicants will receive UMBC credentials (user name and password) allowing them to access the Meyerhoff Application in UMBC Scholarship Retriever.

Meyerhoff Final Application deadline – January 15 (We strongly encourage submission no later than January 10 to facilitate timely review of your application.)

- List all courses that you will take during your final year of high school. If no math courses will be taken, please indicate the most advanced math course you have completed.
- Please upload an updated resume (PDF version). Be sure to include any STEM-related program participation, projects, faculty/mentor guided research experience, notable internships, poster/oral presentations, and/or publications. Also, your resume should include any extracurricular leadership experiences, community service involvement, and scholarly or other honors/awards. You are not limited to one page.
